CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacralTherapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is an art, developed by Dr. John E. Upledger DO, focused on accessing clients innate intelligence through the natural body rhythms to support therapeutic release of restrictions. CST uses the least amount of energy required to engage the opposing forces of the bodies tissues to facilitate release. This therapy encourages the release of restrictions deep down in the body by connecting to the central nervous system and supporting whole being changes rather than treating reoccurring symptoms. The CranioSacral System has it’s own rhythm just as the body has a heart beat and breathing rate so detection of this rhythm can determine where restrictions are and by using this non-invasive approach, results are achieved with an increased state of relaxation and Self discovery.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is an effective modality focused on relieving tension through a light-touch approach that uses pressure ranging from 1-5 grams of weight (weight of a nickel). This technique encourages the release of restrictions deep down in the body by targeting the central nervous system where the cause of the problem resides rather than treating the symptom. The CranioSacral System has it’s own rhythm just as the body has a heart beat and breathing rate so detection of this rhythm can determine where restrictions are and by using this non-invasive approach, results are achieved with an increased state of relaxation. It is almost as receiving a massage from the inside out. The CranioSacral System encapsulates the brain and spinal cord through a semi-closed hydraulic system known as the meninges. This hydraulic system protects our Central Nervous System (CNS) by floating due to cerebral spinal fluid in between the menegial layers acting as a stationary balloon extending from inside the cranium down to the base of the sacrum. We find blockages and feel restrictions in our body when this membrane gets “stuck” in an area that usually results in physiological or psychological difficulties that are usually able to release by receiving this subtle and nurturing treatment.
